Knoxville, Tenn. - February 12, 2009 - Sea Ray Boats introduced its Sundancer® series in 1975 after company owner C.N. Ray and designers Jerry Michalak and Arch Mehaffey saw the need for something beyond a typical express boat. So, on their next new model, they raised the helm position and introduced a mid-stateroom to provide maximum use of space. In the process, they changed the face of boating by creating the Sundancer series and redefining the express cruiser class.
Celebrating 50 years of industry-leading design excellence and sophistication with its model-year 2009 lineup, Sea Ray has recently launched the latest version of its ever-popular Sundancer series: the new 250 Sundancer, a boat that reflects the lasting appeal created by the original SRV 240 Sundancer. And like its predecessor, the 250 is a premium blend of space, comfort, and power.
In the cockpit, owners will appreciate a number of seating innovations that increase the social flow. The helm seat to starboard is a doublewide and can be adjusted to face aft when the boat is at rest. The L-shaped lounger to port has a flip-up backrest and removable mid-section that allows it to be converted to an aft-facing seat. There's also cooler storage below. Behind the helm is a refreshment center with cup holders, trash receptacle, and storage. An optional solid-teak cockpit table with dedicated storage creates the perfect picnic spot.
The 250 maintains the signature Sundancer sleekness in details like the helm station's high-gloss burl-wood finish and SmartCraft® instrumentation with low-glare blue night lighting, chrome bezels, four-in-one gauge (fuel, oil pressure, trim, and water temperature), and system tachometer (depth/water temperature, engine alarm/hour meter, fuel consumption/usage, trim level, voltage, and digital speed). An optional sport spoiler accents the shapely look of the boat's reverse sheer line.
The 250 Sundancer sleeps up to four people in the cabin. Forward is a V-berth that converts into a lounge once the standard filler cushion is removed. Insert a solid-wood table (with designated storage) and it becomes a dinette for four. There's even designated storage here for the optional Sea Ray-branded hanging garment bag. The mid-stateroom has a double berth, storage cabinet, and optional sliding window with screen for ventilation.
The galley comes complete with a microwave oven, a molded-in fiberglass sink, refrigerator, and stowage top and bottom. The head is fully enclosed and includes a shower curtain, portable MSD, and mirrored vanity with sink and pullout sprayer. The water system comes standard with a freshwater washdown spigot, dockside water inlet, 20-gallon water tank, and a six-gallon water heater.
Not surprisingly, the team at Sea Ray has created a great-riding boat from the inside out, powered by a standard MerCruiser® 350 Magnum MPI Bravo® III (300 hp - 224 kW). Options include a long list of single gas and diesel sterndrives up to 320 hp, some with corrosion-resistant SeaCore drives and Digital Throttle & Shift (DTS), allowing owners to personalize their vessel for optimal performance and durability based on where they boat.
The 250 Sundancer includes a Sony® AM/FM/CD stereo with MP3 port, four speakers, and digital cockpit remote to keep owners company during cruises. Upgrade the stereo with a six-disc CD changer, iPod docking station, and premium speakers, amplifier, subwoofer, and transom remote. Or for more entertainment and convenience, add the optional 10" LCD TV, single-burner stove, VHF radio, 7" chartplotter/GPS, 7,000-BTU air conditioning, or rope/chain windlass. All this and you can still slide the boat up on a trailer (8'6" beam) and tow it anywhere, making the 250 Sundancer a smooth ride both in and out of the water.
Specifications* for the 250 Sundancer are as follows:
