5 Reasons the Sea Ray SPX Model Family is Right for You

SPX bowriders and runabout boats have lots of reasons to consider buying one: here are the top five.

1.     SPX models are Sea Ray’s entry-level model family

Many people incorrectly assume because Sea Ray boats are a premium luxury brand, they are out of reach for their boating budget. But SPX bowrider and runabout boat models are designed to bring the exceptional boating experience Sea Ray is known for to a broader audience of boaters with our entry-level line of family boats. These are not stripped-down models and are fully equipped to head straight to the water, even without adding a single option. They also have some of the premium standard features found on its more upscale models like four-speaker Fusion Stereo systems and easy to operate Simrad electronics. And for customization, there’s a choice of eight hull colors.

2.     SPX models are ready to take a road trip

All Sea Ray SPX models have beams of 8 feet, 6 inches or less, which is the maximum width for towing boats without having to abide by wide-load protocols and restrictions. They all weigh less than 4,400 pounds, which means they are trailerable by many pickups, SUVs and crossovers (carefully check tow capacity and actual weights, including trailer and gear). Sea Ray SPX 190 and SPX 210 models even come with a standard custom trailer.

3.     SPX models have multiple ways to stretch out and relax

One of the unique features of Sea Ray SPX models — including those powered by outboards — is they all have stern sunpads, which are perfect for laying on to catch some rays when at rest. SPX bowrider seats are great places to recline and are safe for kids when running thanks to the high gunwales and grab handles. Some models have the option to include a rear-facing portside lounger with a backrest that can be flipped rearward to sit facing forward. On sterndrive models, a full-width swim platform is a perfect place to stretch out and can be optioned with a Submersible Swim Step.

4.     Sea Ray SPX models are ready for watersports

All SPX models come standard with either ski tow pylons for outboard-powered models or ski tow eyes for sterndrives. If watersports like wakeboarding are on the agenda, there’s an optional forward-facing watersports tower. It can be lowered quickly for ducking under low bridges or for storage at home simply by hand-twisting two release knobs found at the base.

5.     Bundles take SPX models to the next level

With one check of a box on the option sheet, owners can seriously upgrade their SPX.

· The Entertainment Bundle adds a host of high-tech features like Active Trim, which automatically keeps the boat in perfect trim depending on the boat's speed — even when taking a tight turn. It also includes Simrad’s GO9 touchscreen display that includes a chartplotter with preloaded charts and a transducer that helps create a detailed view of the bottom, including showing fish. The stereo gets a huge boost from Fusion’s premium Apollo 1200-Watt amplifier, four upgraded 6.5-inch speakers plus a 10-inch subwoofer.

· The Essentials Bundle includes a bow filler cushion, SeaDek padding for the swim platform, stainless steel cupholders, rubrail and deck hardware, and adds upgraded upholstery (the SPX 230 line includes the last two as standard features).
