SEA RAY® INTRODUCES NEW POWER OPTION FOR THE SLX 400 OUTBOARD AT THE MIAMI INTERNATIONAL BOAT SHOW

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (Feb. 14, 2019) — Continuing its celebration of 60 years of remarkably crafted boats, Sea Ray premiered a brand-new engine option on its SLX 400 Outboard, giving boaters a higher horsepower option than they have ever had before.  Sea Ray owners will now have the option to power their SLX 400 Outboard with triple 400-horsepower Mercury Verado engines, also launched today at the Miami International Boat Show. Delivering heart-racing power, the Mercury 400 Verado four-stroke outboards engines will increase boat speeds to over 55 mph.

“We are excited to have the opportunity to premier the new SLX 400 Outboard power option on a global scale at the Miami International Boat Show,” said Brad Anderson, Sea Ray president and general manager. “The triple 400-horsepower engines allow the customer to gain speed on the top end. We saw an increase of 5 mph over the base boat, which is significant for only 150 additional horsepower over the triple 350 configuration.”

The SLX 400 Outboard is yacht-certified, and its best-in-class layout has seating for 22 passengers and an abundance of storage space. Fit and finish are superior, with premium upholstery and a purity of line and form. Below deck, a generous cabin creates a comfortable space to escape the elements, relax or spend the night. 

One of the most notable features on the SLX 400 Outboard is the fold down swim terrace, a brilliantly designed wing of the hull on the starboard side that opens 90 degrees to expand the cockpit all the way to the water. A plush sunpad extends the width of the transom and features a converting backrest that opens to face the swim terrace. The bow offers ample seating and a sunshade.  

Technology highlights include Mercury’s Joystick Piloting for Outboards, quietRIDE™ technology featuring Tuned Transom®, an advanced digital dash helm offering dual 16-inch Simrad® touchscreen displays with digital switching, and optional Dynamic Running Surface™.  These amenities, features and technology advances contributed to the SLX 400 being named Boating Magazine’s Boat of the Year and an Innovation Award winner.
